Wedding Paper Guide
There are a lot of options when it comes to wedding paper. If you are feeling overwhelmed or don't know where to being, take a peek at some of the option breakdowns below and schedule a call with me. I'm happy to walk through everything with you!
In the meantime, if you are curious about paper, ink and printing method choices, check out some helpful information below.
PRINTING METHODS
DIGITAL PRINTING
Sometimes referred to as Flat Printing, Digital prints smoothly to the paper, with no raised or indented impression. If you run your fingers over it, you'll only feel the slight texture of the paper.
Production Time: 3 Weeks
THERMOGRAPHY
PRINTING
A printing method where ink is printed on the paper then dipped in a powder. After powder is administered to paper, it is run through a high heated machine to create a raised ink. When you run your fingers over thermography printed invitations, you will feel raised lettering.
Production Time: 5 Weeks
LETTERPRESS
PRINTING
A plate of your design is inked with rich matte ink, then pressed into cotton paper, leaving a beautiful, touchable impression. When touched, you can feel the indentation.
This print method is done in house with our own letterpress machine built in 1842.
Production Time: 7 Weeks
FOIL
PRINTING
A magnesium plate of your design is hand-pressed with shiny, metallic foil into paper, leaving a shining, touchable impression on cotton paper.

PAPER USED
PAPER COLOR
Piper and Finch offers White and Ivory paper choices. Our ivory is a true ivory color - it is not yellow. Both are exceptional choices. There is no difference when it comes to how the ink or foil will hold onto different paper colors.
SINGLE PLY
Our single ply paper is a sturdy 120# paper.
Offered in both ivory and white.
Excellent choice for any print method.
DOUBLE PLY
Our double ply paper is 2 times the thickness of our single ply paper. It is a thick 220# paper offered in ivory and white.
Double ply paper is an excellent choice for any print method and is especially beautiful on letterpress invitations.

Double ply paper is not offered for thermography print types or suite No. 11's Gate invitation.
PAPER TYPES
Piper and Finch uses two different types of paper dependent on print type.

For Digital and thermography print types, we use a Mohawk eggshell paper. Offered in Ivory and White as well as single and double ply paper. This paper has a slight texture to it, it is not smooth.

For Letterpress and Foil print types, we use a 100% cotton stock that is offered in both Ivory and White as well as Single and Double ply paper.
